Hey guys I just bought a Studio XPS 16 1645 and was wondering if there is a way to safely OC the processor/video card. Here are my specs. I read a few articles on here about modded bios but really didn't see any step by step instructions and wasn't exactly sure it was for my laptop. Any help would be much appreciated for a n00b. Thanks guys!

    Intel Core i7-720Q
8 GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz (2 DIMMs)
1 GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730

Unfortunately, with the way that the core-i series mobile chips are designed, you can't overclock them at all (unless you have the $1000 unlocked i7 extreme CPU).

I'd better chime in before somebody take this as truth. You have the possibility of overclocking the CPU if you can find out the PLL clock generator on your laptop, let the author of SetFSB knows about it, and he'll determine if it's possible to OC the laptop and add support for that PLL into the SetFSB program for you. Not all laptop can be CPU OC, but the majority does have the possiblity.
Also, several laptops with Core i7 CPU's are already supported by SetFSB to OC. For example, the M11xR2 does.
