Can it be done? I have never dared to overclock a laptop due to them being so hot in the first place but i was wondering if anyone has tried on this laptop yet?

you cannot overclock a laptop simply because there is no setting in the bios (sure theres software that can run on widows...but thats like trying to tune your car in the autobahn while going full speed.)

as for gpu it is possible with a driver mod and overclocking software.
*BUT is not recommended due to increase in heat output. The heatsink was not thermally designed to handle than what the laptop was designed for...so it can only take so much*

To be honest it dosent run that hot. This is with basic web surfing and youtube videos. Underload the most i have reached is 73c for the gpu and 70c for the cpu

yes even though the temps are fine you are still stressing the gpu beyond the limit it was design for.
I would know i had my 8400m gs overclocked a by about 30% core and 45% memory. I thought all was well because my temps only increased 5 to 6 degrees. After around 3 months of having the gpu overclocked with those settings I started to encounter crashing and artifacting (due to memory not having a heatsink and probably overheating.). So i stopped overclocking since I dont want my gpu to die anytime soon (my m1530 is 1 year and 2 months old :D)

As I said if your willing to shave off some life from your gpu (just like smoking cigarettes.) go ahead and OC it, problems might not show up tomorrow or next week but it will come sooner or later.

btw, the gpu memory doesnt have sensors so they might be around 90 - 100 degrees.

    have a nice day

Overclocking the 8400m was bad in the first place. It has heating issues already. My temps of my new 1640 are half of what my 1330 are. The 1640 seems ok to overclock but the 3670 is a factory overclocked version of the 3650. So i wouldnt advise going overboard

my 8400m gs never had heating issues. whilst idling it would hit 65 max then the fan would kick on to lower it to 59. while being used it for hours of tf2 max ive hit with it is 72.
yeah i know the 8xxx series have issues with heating but i think im few of the lucky ones without the issue.

and as we speak these are my temps
