I used to have my XPS 8600M GT oc'd to 603/902 setting using Riva Tuner. Last week, I had to reinstall the OS because of a OS crash. I installed the dell image and now, I'm having issues OC'ng the graphics clock back to the same level.

I am still able to set the clock to 602/902 but after i play Brothers in arms Hells Highway, I will suddenly see the game drop major FPS (i have fraps running). Sometime it will go from 20 FPS to 6 FPS.

After I quit the game, and open a new game, I notice that the performance is just as bad in all games.

It feels like the card has reset itself to low-power mode or something of that sort.

Temps seem fine (~64 degrees) after gaming so it doesn't look like a heat issue.

    Any ideas?

    overheating !!!
Do u mean 64C after gaming or in game. When load of cpu & GPU is smaller when U switch to desktop. It cool very very fast with normal load of XP or Vista

    It's the drivers.
Some drivers do downclock after it reacher around 90* degrees. Try the newest DOX drivers from laptopvideo2go. I got +11fps in GTA IV and these drivers wont downclock either.

(But the sleep state is removed .. )
