I wanted to know if anyone has successfully done it or if it's even possible to do on this laptop. Sorry if this is a duplicate thread but sorting through 498 pages of information proved to be a bit daunting. I was looking into a bit and it supposedly possible to do via rivatuna but I figured I'd ask around before fiddling with it myself.
-
Yes, you can with Rivatunner. I overclocked my 4670 from 675/800 to 790/855 stable.
-
I'm pretty sure that'd void my warranty though...right?
-
Yes, just in theory
-
lmao in theory. Alright, thanks for the info I think I'll hold off on voiding my warranty until they fix this thing.

@ fenikkusu
You have one of the most overheating laptops in the world and your planning to overclock it.
So...either your home must be really cold or dell fixed the heat issue? -
The 1640 was the one with the heating issue if I'm not mistaken. My laptop runs quite cool with no accessories needed. The only time it heats up is during extended gaming periods...I mean HOURS of playing and the CPU + GPU peak for me at around 86C and the laptop is still quite comfy to use.
-
Hm thats weird, I didn't hear they changed the construction of that laptop. When you open your screen to 90 degrees it blocks the fan and the laptop overheats (and sometimes your screen decolours) They chose looks over decent architecture.
-
I do find the fan placement to be absolutely retarded but from my understanding they did move components around in this reiteration of the SXPS16. It no longer becomes scalding hot on the palm rest lol. I've had mine since 11/11 and it's never overheated once and I use it heavily. I can game on it for hours straight without worrying about the heat so they must've changed something. My screen is fine as well lol.
-
Well your laptop is running at 86 celcius you say, mine runs at about the same. But when its summer...it goes up to 94 and my grafic card shuts down due to overheating (the rainbow sparks are a warning lol...long live the nvidia 8 series). I would have bought the sxps 16 long time ago if they didn't have that overheating problem, the design looks ver nice. How about you tell me next summer how your lappy is doing
-
The 86C is after ~6 hours of intensive gameplay (ie Crysis/Dragon Age) I'm sure my lappy will be fine come summer time. AC ftw lol. I REALLY don't like the vent placement...that's my biggest gripe with the design I totally agree with you on that one.
-
I changed the thermal past and now with my 4670M overclock 790/855 mhz, I get 76° max after 10 minuts of Furmark Extrem Burn mode.
-
I'm not a computer botard lol but I've never been one to open up my system, so mine doesn't have any thermal paste or a cooling pad, is doing that easy?
-
What paste did you use? Most say that Arctic Silver 5 is good but there are way better products available (I want to know the best, even if it costs 100€
.
-
lol I don't, I'm quite broke after paying for this system (hence no cooling pad)
-
Before my first replace of my mainboard by Dell, I tested the OCZ Freeze. But after the replacement, I tested the AS 5 and it's the best choice for me.
Overclocking the ATI Mobility Radeon 4670 in the SXPS?
