We need a forum discussion for the GT 550M. What Software do you use, what are you highest stable speeds, and any benchmark results. Thx

I use EVGA Precision to overclock mine...you can have your core clock speed all the way max up to 760 and memory clock all the way up to 1080... when i maxed out the both core and memory and benchmarked it in 3DMark11, i got score of p1750..that score is close to a overclocked gt 555m.. but the max out on gt 555m when overclocked can give scores up to p1900.. so it aint much of diff between the two cards... and when 550m is overclocked to max, the temps while gaming do not go above 73C on gpu.. and no problem while playing games.. it runs them smoothly.. perfectly stable when overclocked to max.. though i have a cooling pad(U3) under my laptop.. overclocking gt 550m is perfectly safe..

Im using the beta Nvidia driver for Battlefield 3 and I am using EVGA Precision to OC it. 710/1420 is as high as I can go without the driver stopping. I have not tried OCing this high prior to updating to this driver. Is my card not as lucky as other's or is it the new driver that is causing it to not be able to go any higher? I also do not see any increases in performance when I bring up the memory clock so I just left it at 945.

Can you post before and after OC temps? I'm sure others will be interested. Thanks.

Im too sleepy to play any games right now and my room is really cold.
By running Furmark which does not use CPU power the temps for stock is 64C(Max. It was mostly 62-63C when I made this reading).
    OC'd to 620/1240/950 the temp is 64C.
If I remember correctly, running Prime95+Furmark w/stock clocks, the GPU temp was 71C. This will be as hot as it will ever get on stock. 620/1240/950 will probably raise it by 1-2C.
Since my room is really cold right now and I am not running a game I don't think these are good readings.

EDIT: After about an hour of BF3 with my clocks set to 675/950, my temperature was 66C. Again my room is cold so that may be why it is so nice and cool. I am unable to set it to a higher clock for some reason. Any higher results in BF3 crashing and if it is high enough the driver stops working. I have heard of 550Ms running at 760/1520/1080. I must be unlucky because my card cannot reach those clocks, at least with the latest driver.

I would've gotten the 555M if it was my choice but Dell sent me this as a replacement for my old laptop... Sadly this card can perform worse than my old one(Mobility 5730) but they would not give me a 555M.

Hi I have the 550M GPU in a XPS L702x Laptop with the i5-2410 CPU, I can play Crysis 2 with stock speed on GPU & CPU no problem the game is smooth and the in game Crysis 2 graphics settings are all set to Very High.
But the temps of the CPU & GPU does get too hot, at 78oC for the CPU and 64oC for the GPU measured with HW-Monitor.
So far I have only tested Crysis 2 and I am very impressed with the 550M GPU.

But what is ur resolution? I find that to be very important but people never mention it.
Your temperatures are actually very good for a laptop.

    Wow man that sounds awsome..
I recently ordered a.dell xps 17 3d (so I can chuck optimus out and get better screen refresh rates) with i7 and gt 550m...
I was depressed for it being in the mid range section...and ddr3...
ppl where advicing me to loose it and get an msi or something..compared to those this s way cheap...
But if crysis 2 runs smooth thats great...at what res u playin at?
Plus pls try metro 2033 if you dont mind..
Si I guess gt 550m is a bit better than gt 540m after all..

I think the res of the NON 3D screen is 1600 x 900 so that is what I had the res set to in Crysis 2 options.
