I made a similar poll for the 1440x900 display and thought the results were interesting, so I've created this poll.
Dell uses several lcd manufacturers. Most people seem to believe the LG screens are better.
If you are a M1530 owner with a WXGA (1280x800) vote here! LG or not?
To check your LCD screen manufacturer on Vista:
Computer-->Properties-->Device Manager-->Monitors-->Generic PnP Monitor-->Properties-->Details-->Hardware Ids
For the 1280x800, I believe "LPL0000" is an LG screen. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

did you forget the poll?
-
-
why don't they have a VGA model? That's what I want.
-
For my Samsung screen, I checked the maker using the Service Tag.
Hardware Ids only shows Default_Monitor. -
I have the Chung Hwa Screen.
Brightness is Ok, but some sever backlight bleeding. -
My monitor id hardware is LPL0301.................it's a LG or not???
-
are there any problems with WXGA screens? are the WXGA screens grainy?
-
wow 1 to 10, statistiks are not so good.
I have also Chung Hwa Screen and view angel is extremly poor and alot of backlight bleeding -

Just thought I'd save the current poll results... in case the current trend changes.
LG: 3
Non-LG: 15
And vote if you haven't!
(see first message in this thread for links to polls for the other two resolutions) -
WOW, 3 to 20. I think it is time to put a sticky with warning of the dell screen quallity and links to the 3 voteing pages. If i would knew the statistik was so bad i would never bought my m1530. Was thinking the statistiks would be other way around.

I thought I'd save the current poll results again:
LG: 4
Non-LG: 24
Plus this has gotten buried so it's a good time to bump it.
It would be interesting to see if the trend changes.
Any new owners: vote if you haven't!

During December and January I noticed a lot of people complaining about the displays they were getting on their M1530's. There were comparisons made and it seemed that the general consensus was that the LG screens looked better. Since most people want to just order once and get a system they are perfectly happy with... getting an LG became the best bet.
At that time I was planning to get the M1530 with the WSXGA display. As I read all the complaints out there, I had trouble finding anyone unhappy with a WSXGA. It seemed like most had LG screens or didn't specify. So I started the poll for the WSXGA .... the results of which started to suggest that the majority of WSXGA owners received an LG.
Within a few weeks it seemed like a good idea to create polls for the WXGA and WSXGA+... to see their results would support the idea that you are more likely to get an LG by ordering the WSXGA. They do in fact support this.
I guess this is all just a long way of saying...
this poll isn't saying all non-LG screens are bad. It is simply trying to find the likelihood of getting an LG. -
I got LG screen, i believe its LPL0301. It was awesome and got lucky.
-
Can you make a similar poll for the M1330 ???
Got lucky to receive my M1330 from Dell Outlet with a LG screen. -
I have an XPS 1530 on route, appears that it is using the Samsung LCD (1280 * 800) that has received a lot of complaints. Are these issues still continuing for people?
I find it hard to believe they would continue to ship them if there is such a high percentage of bad screens. -
Hey, mine is not the 1280x800 screen...though it is an awesome LG 1440x900, and the screen is *brilliant* for me
POLL: Is your M1530 WXGA (1280x800) an LG?
