I have a hardware/software application (older astrophotography CCD camera) that requires a 'full' parallel port (all of the USB to parallel solutions that have been tried many times by many people don't work). There are some PCMCIA and ExpressCard solutions that do work.

I am assuming that there really isn't anything out there that will allow me to use my XPS in this case, but thought that I would throw this out there just in case.

    Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion. That solution would probably work from a compatibility perspective. But (AFAIK) my machine's only miniPCI physical interface is on the system card and really isn't reasonably accessible (not sure that isn't already used for video, no place to run cables, etc.). Or if I actually started to take screws and covers off would I be pleasantly surprised here?

uh, that is weird, I have the 15º version of this machine and it have two ports.

I thiugh the L702X was suposed to have more ports, like 3 of them, but well, it will be nice to be sure.

if you didn took the machine appart yet, I recomend you do, and do some things like repaste, dell repasting job is not good from people opinions.

and also you probably will know more your hardware.

I'm almost sure it will not being used on video.

maybe some of them are getting used in the wireless , 3G or TV cards like on the L502X
