I keep seeing that people are having delays because of backordered parts; batteries, LEDs, etc.
I ordered a 1530 with LED and 9-cell. I'm assuming it's one of those items that are holding things up. It seems ridiculous to spend almost $2k on a laptop, and have to wait a month(or more) to get it. Over 3 weeks now, and it's still in the build stage![]()
Anyways, my question is.....
How do you know which parts are on backorder? Is there some way to check this online? Or do you have to call India, err.....I mean, Customer service?
Thanks.

3 weeks? I've been waiting over 6 weeks only to hear it's delayed another week due to the backordered parts.
-
I am sure it is wrong but when I ordered mine the other day and it said the LED screen could delay my order I clicked on that and it said it would only delay it one day. Hopefully one of the backordered parts is the revised GPU.
-
I'm getting mine on the 11th with no backorder since I didn't get the 9cell or the LED screens (no use for me). It's only taking 11 days to get the system, but I'm doubtful that the backorder is a result of the nVidia cards. Except there haven't been any news about revised cards being put in already; if anything nVidia would have released the news since they've already admitted the higher failure rates and would try and salvage their reputation by having a huge news release on how new computers are coming with the revised cards. Just what I think, no source, just speculation. Still excited for it on the 11th though. But 6 weeks is ridiculous, hope it's everything you dreamed of, haha.

nVidia has already said they fixed the chips a while ago so Dell can only have so much stock of the old ones. Hopefully with all this waiting we will get the new chips.
-
Do you have a link to where nVidia says they fixed the GPU?
-
I have already posted it here before in a thread that you were active in but here you go again.

Here is a quote to make it even easier. This was released on July 2 so they have building the new chips for at least over a month. Dell has to run out of the old ones sometime.
Huang added, "This has been a challenging experience for us. However, the lessons we've learned will help us build far more robust products in the future, and become a more valuable system design partner to our customers. As for the present, we have switched production to a more robust die/package material set and are working proactively with our OEM partners to develop system management software that will provide better thermal management to the GPU." -
I really hope my new 1530 will be equipped with that new material...however its coming the 11th when their news updates on the cards will be on the 12th. I guess that means with the warranty, I'd be getting the newly revised cards
Thanks. That actually makes thing a lot better for me, haha. Although I'd have to go through the trouble of a year or so's worth of burning the card.

wow hopefully looks like everything its getting better... hopefully we are getting new fixed with robust material on die of the gpu and wont have any fails... and for those who already have a faulty chip dell is working out a warrantly terms change for those with faulty systems:

So......I guess no one knows an answer to my original question then?
How do you find out which parts are backordered, or delaying the build? -
Uh call Dell?
-
My order went into the " boxing stage" today anyways. Thanks. -
I don't know what other answer you wanted? What other way did you possibly think there was to find out what was on backorder? Since it is the only way I would say that my response isn't useless. As far as supercilious, that word is way too big for me.
