Maybe, you might wanna ring up Dell and check your BIOS supports it. If the BIOS hasn't got support yet, it should soon.

Yes you can do the upgrade. It's not a hell of an upgrade, the T9300's are still pricey.

As far as warranty issues go, if your actions in upgrading cause the CPU to fail, or in time the CPU causes other parts to fail, you will be liable. I write a letter to dell when I make a modification. I wrote to them when I upgraded to the T9300, explained that I am qualified to perform the upgrade and I will take responsibility if the CPU causes the system to malfunction but Dell will be responsible for all other malfunctions.

I also wrote to them when I told them about my GPU. I gave them a deadline to replace my GPU or else I would be performing a copper mod, once again explaining I am fully competent to perform the upgrade. They actually called me back on that one and said they will extend my warranty by one year so it's not necessary to do the modification. I explained I travel a lot on business and I can't afford my GPU crapping out on me half way around the world when I'm playing COD4. They agreed to let me do it.

Write letters, it works. Explain you are honorable and your warranty will still be respected. It's not like you are pouring coke on your motherboard, you are inserting a component that the system was designed to handle. Just make sure you file the correct paperwork beforehand.

    Good points!
Will write that letter - I am worried about the GPU so would rather get the problem sorted before it develops. Just gotta find the copper now.
    Cheers

It really depends on what you are starting with because the CPU is quite costly and the upgrade would not be cost effective.

Yea, wanna do it - will check out prices.
My 1330 has the T7250 in it (2.0Ghz/800fsb) so will defo be a big improvement.
Might actually be cheaper to upgrade the m/board, cpu and grafix card on my desktop though? Still on the Athlon xp2600 oc'd to xp3200 equivalent with X800Pro oc'd too!! Bit dated huh lol

The T9300 is $330. You can definitely upgrade your desktop for less than that.
