I'm planning to give my XPS1530 to my relative and planning to buy XPS Studio 16.

    Here are my question:

1> Major and minor issue with XPS Studio 16
2> Is heat problem still exist with XPS model?
3> Option to consider Sony VAIO (what equivalent XPS Studio model)?

Major Issues: is the throtteling problem, which can be explain here:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=446193&page=1

    Minor Issues:

Some people have had problems with the RGB screen i.e flickering, poor colour saturation especially reds. but the majority seems to be ok. (Its more of something to be aware of than an issue).

Gloss finish VERY prone to finer prints, I dont know how this effects you as im not too bothered, thought I would put it in anyway.

Other downfalls I would say would be the lack of Bluray with the new models and no USB 3.0.

The heating issue I have been told is ressolved with the newer models as more vents have been included, however that said the i7 with a HDD runs pretty hot anyway so you might want to invest in a cooler. May I suggest the Zalman NC2000 for any laptop over 15".

If anyone can think of any other issues I have missed please posted them up as I would also like to know.

I think when the throtteling issue gets ressolved which will hopefully be withing weeks the XPS is a fine choice as there are alot of features they offer which you cant find anywere else. Not to mention they are a nice looking piece of kit.

I hope I have been of some help if you have anymore questions go right ahead.
