Hi, I was wondering if its possible to install games onto my laptops second HDD. Right now, its the D: drive. I tried installing BF2 to this drive but an error said its "unsafe." Is there any way around this? The HDD is a Hitachi HTS723225L9A362 ATA.

    Any advice is much appreciated.

There isn't any reason for you not to be able to. BF2's installer is probably the only program you are going to find that complains about being installed on a 2nd HDD.

The only reason I can think of for BF2's issue would be if the drive appears to be removable, which that would be an issue with the M1730. But I really doubt that is the case.

Ok, yea. I've been able to install my games to the second hdd. I guess it is just an issue with bf2. Thanks.

Yeah... you shouldn't really have any problems installing to your second HDD.

Personally I keep all my documents, music, and 'important' stuff on the second HDD and install all my games on the primary. Just added insurance as the second drive isn't going to see as much use as the first... therefore the first drive is more likely to fail.

can you have the two drives running at different speeds (one 5400, one 7200)? there seems to be one cable connecting the hard drive cubby to the rest of the board...

Yeah. Different drive speeds should work just fine, at least as far as using them as single drives. I am not sure as to how they would act while in RAID, if you're planning on doing an array. I do know that if you have two drives of different capacity, the RAID array will be twice the size of the smaller drive(leaving the extra space of the second drive unused).
