So I ordered my laptop (Studio XPS 16) on Sunday, 3/22. There were instant savings of about $70 then. It ran to about $2,288 after tax.
I went on the site today, and there's instant savings of $219. After tax, the same machine is $1,970.
How well does Dell do price adjustments? Should I pursue one? I'm not very good at trying to get these (pretty laidback), but is it worth my time?
Please advise at your earliest convenience.
Thanks,
John

"Dell Customer Care can price match within 24 hours from the time of order."
You can always cancel and order at a lower price since it isn't within 24 hours; I would always check first though because it might save you time. -
Call and see if they will give you the Price match...Yes, there is a chance you will have to cancel and reorder to get the price match.
But, they also may not want you to not cancel and may offer you a e-coupon or something similar saving to match the price differential~ to stop you from cancelling your order, also!
They did the for me, when I was going to return a MP3 player I ordered, and the priced had dropped over $15 the day I received it!

Well, that didn't work...at least with the India rep. They're unforgiving; he told me that I could setup a return for the machine once I receive it, then order it for the cheaper price.
Quite honestly, that's entirely counterproductive.
I read about a way to get a US representative, but I'm not sure if I should try it. -
I think it is worth it.
If you allow them to ship it they can charge a 15% restocking fee when you return it, but if you cancel before shipment it wont cost anything and they wont charge your account.
If you want to cancel use this number: 1-800-247-2076. It took me less than 10 minutes to cancel my order, and it is usually a fast process. Then just reorder with the new discount.
I seriously doubt that they will match the discount, and the process would surely take 5x longer than just canceling the order and submitting another.
Hope it works out! -
I was told that, since my order was in production, it could not be cancelled. But I may look into it. I'm the more laidback type on this, and while the money could be worth it, I'm also impatient to a fault. ; )
That said, I appreciate the information, and will look into this. I wonder, if I am able to cancel it, then put it all together, they'd just ship it, because it's the same machine. ; ) -
Well...I just went to the site to reconfigure it and investigate.
The instant savings are gone.
So much for that. -
Dang, at least you don't have to delay the shipping. Enjoy the new studio xps!

It's been in the boxing stage for over two days now...perhaps they're delaying it on their own. ; )

Put a complaint in your well within your rights to do so.
In the UK there is such a thing as Trading Standards which I think Dells UK operation which is in India are unaware of. I had a similar scenario and I even put a complaint to Dell UK head Office but of coarse it's now all based in India for UK customers and guess who dealt with my complaint? a Sales manager in India and of coarse he didn't do nothing about it the arse hole.
I won't deal with these Pakistani Dell Sales reps, they are complete pieces of conniving crap! better to order straight online and miss them out. -
Mine has also been in the boxing stage for a couple of days and ESD is 4/10, so it might be in that stage for another 2 weeks according to dell...
-
2 days for boxing? I think the stages is all a load of bull.
-
I just called the status line and talked to a representative about it.
"Well it is in production and Dell trys to process all orders as fast as possible."
Last time I checked 2 weeks to place an item in a box is not fast. -
I was told (by someone here, so take it with a grain of salt) that the boxing stage lasts until it gets to a distribution center nearest to your location. Then they finish it and send it off to you.
It kind of sucks that I'll have no semblance of an update until Monday at least.
Possiblity of a price adjustment?
