Hey everybody, I was brought here through googling and found this thread:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/dell-xps-studio-xps/451601-bricked-xps-1645-help.html

It pretty well describes my issue. I woke one morning to find the XPS 1645 in a weird state between hibernating and sleeping. The fans run fine, the lights and backlights on the keyboard all turn on, i can hear HDD whirring fine. On cold boot, the HDD light lights up for a second, turns off, then steady bluetooth light. Unfortunately, no display. It doesn't go to a POST test. No beeps. Nada.

I haven't gotten an external monitor to work, and I haven't had any luck with the "remove all power and hold the power button" approach.

My next step is, I think, the BIOS. Unfortunately, the files in the link I provided have expired, but if anybody has those or any more links to those programs I would be hugely grateful.

Were you trying to flash the BIOS? You don't really get a corrupted BIOS unless you get a bad flash...

I wasn't trying to flash the BIOS. It seemed like it got hung up at the stage where it wakes up from sleep momentarily to go into hibernation. I wasn't sure if that could corrupt the BIOS or not.

Anybody have any other ideas? I believe my next step is to replace the motherboard. I just don't want to spend $200+ to buy a part that might not fix it.
