Hey guys! Just thought I'd start a thread for everyone to post their pics of their laptops! All you have to do is post pictures of anything you want on your laptop. Make it look sexy or show everyone a complaint, design flaw, or damage. I think this will be fun if we get enough people! I'll start with my laptop which was damaged out of the factory.
Here is the hinge light that doesn't work on mine (getting fixed this week)

and here is the plastic piece that came broken (also getting fixed this week)

Looks good! How do you like it so far? And I've been meaning to ask someone how they like the fingerprint reader so how do you like your's?
-
So far I've had major problems and I got it on June 13th
These are the only problems I've had
-I accidently deleted the start menu (my fault) and had to do a full restore to get it back
-The speaker grilles have a habit of picking up dandruff and other rubbish
-The heat, OMG the heat
-A small fleck of dust under the screan in the bottom right
-I don't think kaspersky likes vista 64bit, if I try to log in too soon it gives me group logon crap
-The screen isn't the most accurate
-It's not consistant on what it defines as "sleep", if I do it through the start menu the lights flash like they should but if it goes to sleep on its own then they don't
-HP digital imaging monitor (for my printer) sometimes crashes when I log off and brings up an error message, I can ignore it and it will log off fine but it's a bit of an eyesore on the pretty blue log off screen
-I also think I need to clean out the heatsink now
-The battery is a bit odd too, it just leaves a gaping hole when you take it out
-The battery life is not much to gloat about
I wouldn't exactly call these major problems thoughAttached Files:

Yeah I can honestly say that I have noticed all of these minor issues also... except the start menu and dirt behind the screen... although I kind of want to know how to delete the start menu so I can do it to a friend at college... haha gotta go, my palms are burning haha
-
Let's keep these pictures down to no larger than 800x600. The app you use to upload them has a resizer, so please use it.
-
wowee haha thats a bright and expensive desk! haha If you don't mind me asking, what are the specs on the desktop?
-
Just updated my signature, but in the pic i have an 8800gt and E6420 @ 3.4 GHz.
And Padmé, i will. I would have except i didn't realize how big the pic was until after i posted it.

It was a great card, except it only averaged 30 FPS on crysis with high settings. And with multiplayer thats not enough so i got the GTX 260 Core 216 and now im getting 55 FPS Avg.

Well you can play any game on that laptop with proper settings, you should be able to handle COD4/WAW perfectly fine, my 8600m was able to max cod4 at 1024x800. Assasins creed was a good game, battlefield 2 ( kinda old ), and if your into horror games you have to check out FEAR 2. It was awsome! There is a demo for it also, try that out.

Can I post even though I do not have a Dell?
I have lots of ultra high resolution pics of various laptops that I have owned or reviewed and a few other miscellaneous tid bits like my arcade desk. Rather than spam up like 100 pictures I will just link my gallery and you can take a look if you want.

Its missing my older stuff like the C90S review and EEE review and I forgot where I even have those photo's hosted lol. -

That link is not working for me, but the only background I think I have on there is my Vista log in screen and its a space like nebula thing.
Its one of the included presets with Vista Logon Studio from stardock. I have an old version of it though, not sure if the new version is still free or includes that background. -

I love the pictures! I'm going to take some new ones today and put them up... Although I do have a serious suggestion for everyone who still has those stickers from the factory labeling what type of processor or os you have... take them off haha. I just took mine off because one was crooked and boy does it look sleek, I don't feel like an advertising tool anymore - or a child with a toy. I'll post a quick thread on how to, it is really easy but if you are like me you want reassurance. -
Looking good Cin! I could never guess what your favorite color is... haha
-
-
Thanks
Red....me?? No way!hee hee
You took some nice photos, also!
I have my new camera now, so I will snap some newer photos later this evening or tomorrow...I have been somewhat of a slacker lately...Depends on my mood, I always say!
I need to incorporate my new Mice I recently got into the photo..THOSE are notebook mice..not the eeky ones that run around on 4 little legs!!!lulz.

Haha I look forward to it Cin!
Oh and I posted a thread on how to take off stickers here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=407736
(this is my first how to so let me know how to improve but go easy one mehaha)

My experience has been all right. I have 2 dead pixels on my screen as we speak and Dell refuses to fix that.
Apart from that, the laptop gets dirty and the speakers get junk in them easily, and it's overall a painful process to clean. Apart from that, nothing else, everything has been fine so far. I just hope I don't get dust behind my screen. -
-
Dead pixels are in red circles since they're invisible to my camera.
Photos include my awesome neon lights for my laptop xD and MX Revolution.Attached Files:

That looks awesome fred2028! Where did you get that stand, who makes it, and would you mind posting some more pics of just the stand?
Oh and P.S. electronics always make liars of us, whether its the camera not showing something or it starts working when the technician touches it, they will always make us liars haha. - my theory -
Got it off eBay for like under $20 CAD? Works very well. Kinda loud, USB powered, but this USB plug has a USB port at the other end of it so basically it uses 0 USB ports. Also it cools my laptop down very well, I can finally Crysis on 1080p Enthusiast for extended periods of time.Attached Files:

Sweet! I just looked into it... I found some for like $9.00 but thats without shipping... so I just showed the technician out my front door, everything is fixed except one thing. So far it has cost dell one monitor, two plastic caps, two different people, and two frames. They just can't seem to get their sh*t together... The first service appt. they ordered the entire frame instead of the end caps, this time they ordered the end caps and the entire frame and the monitor when the parts I needed were the monitor, end caps, and the BOTTOM METAL PLATE. Haha, they just don't get what that means. They keep telling me, oh yes the bottom plastic! I keep saying no, its METAL. Thats what you get when you deal with people who you can barely understand. All in all, today was good and almost everything is fixed and they're shipping me the "right" part *hope* haha and letting me keep the old one, who knows, maybe I'll sell it on ebay.
-
I totally agree on the stickers, I used to have a product red palm rest with only the Dell logo and no stickers it looked sweet! Had it replaced thought and they gave me a normal one... havent got round to removing them yet but I feel it might be a job for tonight! I will let you know and maybe update with more pics.
As regards to the Dell service:
I have had a few problems with my laptop, most of which are down to me wanting it perfect, but this is an XPS high end product so thats how it should be.
I have always managed to get what I wanted out of the service, but there are one or two things that i find frustrating.
- The call centre is in India (for UK customers at least), this makes it quite hard and often frustrating to explain and communicate.
- Often to get anything done exactly the way you want you have to speak to an adviser/manager.
- For me they could not arrange a specific time for the tech to come round.
- Delays in parts etc. Put one of my repairs back by over a month! It is supposed to be next business day!!!

if you like the front and the sides, you will looove the lid
First I painted the whole Lid in black. After that I lacquer with a shiny metallic Car-lacquer.(I painted the DELL logo (on the Lid) 50% visible, got really cool)...anyway, i post the Lid tomorrow and you see -

There the new avatar is operational! Ha. Think I’m going to attempt the sticker removal now!
-
Haha I like the avatar! Make sure you post some pics of the sticker-less baby! Haha It's going to look so sleek...
-
Boom!
Stickerless! Looks good I missed how it used to look... was so easy to do though!
Now I feel like I want to custom paint it or something but that is a bad idea it would probably turn out ugly ;-). -
Looks good! Check out the other thread you posted in for my comment, I don't wanna repeat myself haha.
-
By the way everyone, my whole laptop was torn apart today and I had the ability to take a picture of the inside of the kensington security slot and to my surprise there is a little metal box that it goes into, I don't know if all laptops are like this but it definitely seems sturdy! I'll post some pics in a few...
