Alrighty! Since no one else was feeling like a photographer I went ahead and took some pictures! I title this album, Flirting With Danger. Haha, I decided to be bold and mix electronics with water in these high-risk photos and surprisingly some of them turned out really well.

has been in the hands of a local courier for the last 3 days *sigh* but I am waiting for...
    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor P9600 (2.66GHz/ 1066 FSB/ 6MB Cache)
    Memory - 8GB (2 X 4GB) Dual Channel 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM
    Video Card - 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 9500M-GE with Hybrid SLI®
Hard Drive - 128GB Solid State Hard Drive
    HD display - Obsidian Black 13.3 " WXGA (1280x800) WLED Display w/ 1.3MP webcam

Don't have a great deal of options here in NZ

Nice! I bet you are really excited! Mine too was in the shipping station of my local UPS and instead of waiting I drove the half hour and picked it up the minute they opened... Haha

Hey guys! I just found an online FPS to play, turned all the settings to max at 1080p for about an hour and a half, maybe longer and these are the max measurements that my temperature monitoring program measured.
80C for one processor and 76C for the other, this is still 25C under the processor's max temperature rating and I have a hard time believing the processor will ever get much hotter than what it did when I was gaming.

yeah, it's a hi-end T-series processor. because of this and for the less consumption did i choose a P series processor, it's performance should be enough too.. how about gpu temperature? or did u check only the cpu temperatures?
    u're photos are awesome :)

As far as the gpu temperature goes, it was about the same as the cpu aside form maybe a few degrees difference. And thank you very much for the compliment! You should post some up here too!

Beautiful -- thank you, scorpeeon :)

I worry that the leather would reduce the longevity of the laptop's appearance because a stain or something could not be gotten out; glad to see the non-leather looks nice.

Looks great! Thanks for posting the pic! Maybe we'll keep this thread alive haha... I'm trying to decide which I would prefer, I think if I got the red, I would prefer the all gloss, no leather. But if I went with black (like I did) I think I would have to stick with leather, only because the red leather I think would look a little awkward while the black leather looks sweet! But this is all personal preference and all that matters is what you're happy with!

well, the main reason i ordered it without leather was that i didn't want to spend 40 bucks more for this and hoped it'll look still pretty good :) if they were at the same price, i would've think about it but because they weren't it wasn't a question :)
eventually i'm pretty happy with my choice

Thanks Cin' and Zswickliffe! I love the Zalman cooler. I've been through 2 coolers before this and the Zalman is hands down worth the extra money. I also like the typing angle it gives you - not to steep, just right.

lol @ Cin, it is hard to refrain from buying! I'm really happy with the 1340. The only thing I would change is the Hybrid Graphics. I'm always running on integrated graphics only because the dedicated+integrated is really poor performing.

Couldn't have been as bad as Gateway support...I had to sent in my desktop THREE times in one month.
    Goes something like this:
    (first time)
Me: so um...my gpu fan came off
    Gateway: sent it in!
    (second time)
Me: so um...I just got my pc back from you guys and it's making strange noises
    Gateway: sent it in!
    (third time)
Me: the strange noise and burnt smell is still there...
    Gateway: sent it in!

In the end, I fixed most of the problems myself via arctic silver.

what's the resolution on the screen of your Studio XPS? and by the way, what's that odd black vertical box on the screen there, as well? Looks as if the wallpaper was too small for the screen? thanks!

Studio XPS 16, I can't help but use it in the dark because it looks so classy

sorry about the bad pic quality, to get dark pics you have tp sacrefice quality unless you have an SLR camera and a tripod. I do happen to have an SLR camera but it's not digital so I'm stuck :p
