Just wanted to get a feel for where everyone is standing to see if everyone is in the same ballpark region or if some people are way ahead of others. I'm using just the demo by the way
3d mark 06 score: 7462
-
Never bothered to run the test. What version did you use? Looks like 3DMark06_v120_1901.exe is the one to go for?
-
Mine is in my sig, haven't run it after the clean install though.
3DMark06: 7246 -
1280x1024 i get 6656, 1280x800 i get 7263, never done a clean install either
-
1280x1024, I got 7097 with the same specs mrbee33 has listed, but I did a clean install. Using latest Dell GPU driver.
-
yeah thats the version im using...also 1280x 800...
and this is after a clean install BTW -
I can't change the resolution to 1280x800, I guess it picks a different default since I have 1920x1080.
-
-
OC'd huh?? does that induce more throttling???
-
I actually dont suffer from throttling, even when playing BF:BC2 on relatively high settings. The overclock locks the GPU, so no GPU throttling(highest it gets is just over 80celcius). And the highest the CPU gets is just under 80celcius.
Throttlestop logs show no sign of throttling, except maybe when I run prime95 and furmark.
It helps that I have applied Arctic Silver 5 and maybe also that I have a SSD as my main drive. -
6649 on my current system
1280x1024 -
7043 with my new 1647 i5-540m
-
Im getting 7300ish, But Ill wait until the discs dell is sending me to post a better score.
-
Just a heads up, after my clean install my scores were almost exactly the same.
+/- 10 pts from the few times I ran it. -
Im not looking for a HUGE difference just a slight change. I also am thinking about upgrading to newer drivers and not the standard ones that came with the rig. That might help a bit especially since I have heard nothing but good things about the 10.6 version.
-
Yep, I've yet to download those. Thanks for reminding me!
-
After updated drivers and clean install
3dMark06 Score: 7277 (1280 x 1024) -
thats good, almost 600 points higher than mine, i would do a clean install but it is way to much of a hassle.
-
... for some I suppose... But if you have an external hard drive it really is easy as pie!
If you have questions feel free to ask mrbee.... -
I am just waiting for dell to send me the discs. I am hopeful that they will be here when I get back in town. I am hopeful for a decent score.
-
7366 on my new current system. Will test again after SSD comes in.
-
With a fresh format and 10.6 drivers Im still in the 7200-7300 range.
-
Are these scores supposed to be any good? I got about a 7100 and it tells me that I'm in the "old computer" range.
-
The test is designed for hardcore desktop gaming rigs. You're competing with a lot of those.
-
1024x768 = 7892 (SM2.0= 2747, HDR/SM3.0= 3613, CPU=3033)
1280x800 = 6616 (SM2.0= 2343, HDR/SM3.0= 2832, CPU=3039)
1920x1080 = 5456 (SM2.0= 1965, HDR/SM3.0= 2189, CPU=3066) -
3DMark06 wont run for me, I get the following error:
Which resolution should I be running the test at? -
For a mid level gpu these scores are near the top of mid level gpus.

3DMark Score 7304 3DMarks
I still think I can get higher with some tweaking but it isn't too bad. -
On 1280x1024, i get 7258. This is without a clean install.
-
Check my sig for my 3dMark06 score. The resolution is 1280x800.
-
I have windows 7 Ultimate 64
Latest drivers
But score only 5532
Why?
No viruses, no other soft
Only GPU score is LOW -
Well, I`ve got a dell studio xps i7 720qm and ati 4670 and this is my result : Result 8731

That`s my default settings I guess..
-
You'll have to use an external monitor to run at 1280x1024, the only resolution you can use to compare to others. I didn't get it at first either, kept wondering why my results were always 1000 or so higher than everybody else's.
-
Did it on an external monitor at 1280x1024 and the result is :

Wow. My kids just got the new Alienware M17x R3 for less money than I paid a year ago for my XPS 16 and they get over 14,000 on 3D Mark 06 stock out of the box. Progress but not trading in my RGB LCD anytime soon!
Post your XPS 16 FutureMark 3D Mark 06 scores!
