I have spent the past two days setting up my nice new XPS 15, but cannot enter the serial number for my Spyder 3 calibration software.

It prompts for Name, Company, and Serial number, the first two of which I can enter OK.

But the Serial number is of the format 9999-AAA9-99A9-99A9 where 9 is a number and A is an alphabetic character.

I can enter the numbers but not the characters, when I try I hear a ping.

I have tried shift / caps lock / rebooted etc but am going crazy with this, anybody got any ideas?

    Thanks
    Dave..

Ok, I finally found out why..

The Spyder software comes with a serial printed on the CD.

After entering the serial the software downloads an updated version of the Spyder software which requires registration and use of a NEW serial number, that NEW number is what I was trying to enter for the first software.

    Confused? I was... :D

Has calibrating the display made a difference and are you using the computer for photo editing? I'm looking at the XPS for photo editing as one review says the 1080p screen has a good colour gamut.

    thanks
