I am trying to watch a 1080P movie on my lcd TV.
When I play the file in duplicate mode it displays fine on the laptop but does some type of "ghosting" which is most noticeable when the camera pans from left to right
When I play the file in extend mode the video plays choppy.
I have the most recent nvidia and intel video drivers from the dell site
-
I can't even get it to clone mode via hdmi...
-
anyone else having this issue?
-
I am not. However, I must admit that after the first few days I switched to TV-only (from Extend) so my situation is generally a little different.
-
I got no problems with mine on extend or clone on my external screen via hdmi.
Ran fine running 1080p feeds either by wireless or by hdd or by usb on the dedicated 2.0 port or by bluray
What kind of videos that you are feeding it? -
its an x264 encoded 1080p file
-
Have you upgraded Bios to A04?
-
no, still on AO1
-
What kind of TV are you using? Just curious -- because I have a particular Samsung with HDMI that does not scan properly -- looks better with a VGA feed than HDMI. Probably not your case, but just throwing out that some TV's screw it up.
-
its a phillips. 720P displayed fine
-
To have functionality clone by HDMI.
You must upgrade BIOS to A04 and use latest Drivers from Dell for Intel graphic card and for Nvidia card.

no, I can clone
-
Yes, but you have issue.
-
OK updating now. Hopefully it is this easy...
-
there is Installation Instructions it's very easy:
Drivers and Downloads -
no, I meant hopefully all it needed was a bios update
-
updated bios and still having the exact same issues...
-
Hmm Try updating your nvidia driver if you haven't yet
NVIDIA DRIVERS 270.51 BETA -
I would rather not install a BETA driver. I have the newest driver from the dell site
-
Yay, someone agrees with me
hmm What you use as decoder and player? -
I installed the Klite codec pack and I am using VLC player
jsut tried it on WMP and it did the exact same thing -
no other ideas??? :/
-
Oops I totally forgot about you.
I don't use klite, but I assume it using FF lib.
Is it being read from laptop disk or from external hd?? -
yeah it is using the FFdshow decoder I believe. And it is being read from the laptop disk
-
I get back to you in a several hours to see if it does it on mine. I don't have it me at the moment. I'm using coreavc with mpc on mine so don't know if that makes a difference.
-
ok I will try with that codec and player so we can compare results
-
well I tried that and it got worse!!!
-
I have tried EVERYTHING I give up
-
Ok, I just checked ... Just barely noticeable timing delay but I have to try to see ....bahhh
You sure you tried to use CoreAVC decoder?? I don't remember if it has a free trial, maybe it does.
I know stock mpc uses FFd to decode. -
If I recall correctly, MPC-HC uses DXVA by default, but falls back on to a single threaded decoder.
For simplicity I would recommend chemman14 install CCCP.
After that, open a video in MPC-HC (use the copy that is bundled with CCCP - don't forget to tick CoreAVC in the CCCP Settings application) and tell me what is listed in the menu: Play-> Filters.
Also, how many monitors are being used at the same time?
If more than one is being used, disable Aero.
Otherwise, is Aero enabled or disabled?
We can get started from here. -
You need to remove klite, if you going to do this.
Would be easier to determine problems without having possible conflicts.
@nam
Why your name looks familiar?? -
that is the codec pack I was looking for! I could never remember the name of it. lets hope this works. I am uninstalling all other players and codecs currently installed on my system before installing this
edit: other than CoreAVC of course
I am only using 2 monitors (the laptop and the tv) -
here is the filters menu

Filters menu is normal as far as I can tell. You can also try disable CoreAVC's DXVA option and see if there is any difference - close MPC-HC after for changes to take effect.
Don't use the monitors in clone or there will be tearing on one monitor or jerkiness on both if Aero is enabled.
If you want to use two monitors in extend mode, then try set MPC-HC to: View-> Renderer-> Reset-> Optimal.
This will disable Aero and try to prevent tearing.
You can also try set MPC-HC's video renderer(View-> Options-> Output) to Overlay Mixer(will disable Aero) or VMR7(windowed) if you have Aero disabled from elsewhere.
Dunno, maybe from another video or Anime forum? -
what other options are there than clone or extend?
-
That's all for multiple monitors.
The problem with Aero is that it locks VSync across both monitors at the same time. However, different monitors never have the same timing so the lock makes it jerky (assuming this is what you are seeing). -
tearing is what I am seeing when I clone, the jerky video is when I extend. I will try this when I get home to my TV
-
I want to buy an xps 15 but I use HDMI to TV quite often.
I normally play videos with winamp and divx codec.
Will I see this problem? -
This issue is common to any PCs using Windows Vista or Windows 7.
-
My Win7 dv6500t wtih 8400gs never showed these symptoms on my tv via hdmi.
Are you guys talking about solely video playback or everything in windows is dragging/tearing? -
For Aero and multiple monitors, it affects everything in Windows.
-
Why have I never noticed this before?
What does codec have to do with it if it is all aero?
Is the OP still seeing issues when turning aero off? -
To rule them out as EVR-Custom Pres in MPC-HC has very good frame presentation.
Problem with L502X and HDMI with 1080P
