    Hi,

I recently received my M1330 and it is absolutely amazing. There is only one single problem and that is with the webcam. I downloaded and installed the drivers from July 07 (from the M1330 Driver Page this seems to be the most recent) and I have installed Dell's Webcam Center. When I open up the application however it gives me a message:

"No supported camera detected. Please plug in to continue...."

The camera is embedded so I'm not sure if there is some way to turn it on or off. I assumed it would be primed automatically. Thus, I am wondering what the issue could be.
I am currently running Windows Vista Premium, is there any other application that I could test the camera?

    Thanks.

First go to Device Manger and see the Vendor for the driver in use for the webcam and make sure it is Creative..... Sometimes you might have done a Windows Update which might have prompted you to install some other driver provided by Microsoft....

If you have the creative driver you should not get that error message....

But after intsalling the correct driver if you get merely a black screen in your Webcam center then Install the Intel Turbo Memory Drivers for m1330 and it should be fine....

Just let me know if this works....

EDIT: This driver from DELL http://support.dell.com/support/dow...7&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=17&fileid=214676 should work fine for your webcam...

Yeah, what ashhifizone said, it's probably a driver update thing

Nice to hear that this was your only problem with your m1330 :D

Hmmm, when I go to Device Manager it seems that it doesn't recognize that I have a webcam at all

I have installed the R160323 Creative driver as well that you had hyperlinked and it still doesn't show up  Let me try the Turbo Mem udpate to see if that does anything but this is starting to look like it may be a hardware problem unfortunatley.

Your computer came with the Dell webcam DVD install software run and it install it from that. The Creative software is not enough and all the drivers that are needed. You have to restart your computer after you do this.
If it is not detected after that go to your start up panel and type in webcam and click on it if shows up.
If not go to the add hardware section in the control panel and see if it will detect your webcam.

    Edited to add:
I just got a new drive last week and my webcam was working on my old drive. I just tried to install it myself on my new drive today and i got the same thing telling me that the driver is not installed. I will figure it out though.

Ok my issue could be caused by the fact that i don't have Media Direct installed anymore. Anyway go to the device manager if your webcam is still not working and check if you can see the imaging software. If it is there your webcam is installed.
Go to this page and test if you can use your webcam run and install what they ask you to. I could get my webcam to work through that but so far not through the Dell webcam centre.

In device manager highlight the main computer icon at the top (It should be whatever your computer name is). Then go to actions and select scan for new hardware.

It should detect it if the internal cable is hooked up.

One question: when you boot your computer, does the blue led by the webcam light up? If not, it is either not hooked up or is broken.

When I boot up the LED for the webcam doesn't turn on. In Device Manager there is no heading for Imaging Devices and it doesn't detect any new hardware. I installed the software from the Dell DVD and the latest Creative Drivers, restarted and still nothing.

I will try that Yahoo link that rachuk has posted but the signs are starting to point to either it not being hooked up internally or not working period.

Ugh, hopefully I won't have to RMA it to Dell. I just received it last week!

If you have a canon software installed, try to uninstall it. If this did not do the trick then do a system restore or If that didn't work, revert it back to it's factory settings (PC Restore).

This problem may look like a hardware issue but it is not.
