Hey everyone.. not sure if this is where I should post this... so if this is the wrong spot please point me to the right direction.

Well recently my lcd has randomly started to look like its running 8bit. All the font becomes blurry and certain graphics look like they are flashing/glitching.

I usually use a external monitor and it has never ever happened on that screen. Which makes me think its the laptop LCD.

I took the laptop apart and made sure the ribbon cable under the keyboard is in there snug.

I have windows xp, the nVidia go7400 video card, 2 gigs ram.

is there a way to know if the lcd is dying... or if its some kind of wire thats breaking. Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks

sounds like the video card overheating problem and dying...
Dell's own forum would have more info there.

Too bad mine hasn't died, otherwise i'd be asking for a replacement!!

so what could it be.. right now its perfect... but in a few sec it will go into a 8-bit type of screen where everything is blurry.... and then it will go back to being perfect

I checked all the connections and to my untrained eye everything looks fine...

Would a dying LCD be doing this?

Also to add some more info... this has happened before a few months back... but then it somehow fixed itself... and now it started all over again.

Im seriously about to throw this damn laptop out the window and buy another one but a part of me wants to know is wrong... its killing me

Oh there is goes.. right after i typed all this its back to crap mode.. great

Try booting into safe mode and see if this happens in there as well. If it doesn't then I'd like to think it's a software issue unrelated to the LCD.

Did you finally manage to find out what the problem was?
I am experiencing the same problem with my XPS 1210M and it is killing me too ...!

Could be a lot of issues. Try changing your drivers? If it's not replicated on an external, it doesn't necessarily rule out the GPU in this situation.
