    lets clarify it even more.

    The M1730 is using the previous Intel Santa Rosa platform.

    The CPU may be Socket P..... but remember that they system will not support any CPUs higher than 800MHz FSB.

    It can use Socket P processors compatible with the Intel PM965 chipset, which means any Socket P processor with an FSB of 667MHz or 800MHz, but not 1066MHz.

    Your two best options are the T9500 and X9000.

    No it doesnt support quad cores. The best you can get is a x9000
