    Hey everyone!
As of today i've been looking for my new laptop and it seems my best option would be to configure a Dell XPS 1530 (there is a Dell technician on my campus at Boston College so that's the best for me, even though i don't want the regular ones they sell there for the fall).
It seems the best deal for me is to get the 699 rebate and then add on the DPA discount.
A quick chat with the XPS sales guy pretty much told me that.
Is that correct? Is there anything to add?
I remember reading about problems with the screens, im still wondering which i should get between the LED and the 1920...
    Cheers!
    Dav

A quick reread of the forum brought up this post:

Apparently this is a great deal because i don't see where they get the 2259 for the 699 discount.
Seems i should hurry up before the 21st in order to take advantage of the 30% coupon.

Hmm, haven't studied the recent deals but it would be nice if you could list the specs of the notebook you are going to use your rebate + DPA with.

As for the LED screen, I can vouch for every one of the LED screen owners that the brightness and viewing angle is excellent. Mine came defected, but it shined nice and brightly with little color transitions when viewed at a wide angle. My old Inspiron 8100 looks unaturally dim on its brightest setting when placed next to the XPS m1530 with LED technology.

The 1920 x 1200 resolution can be great if you have great eyes and have no problems with eye strain on resolutions lower than that. You will have a large screen real estate and get to play your high definition media at 1080i/p.

    I've read that viewing media at 1080i/p vs 720p (1440 x 900) on the 15.4 lcd screen isn't that noticeable, if at all. I haven't personally experienced the 1920 x 1200 on a 15.4 inch screen.

Anyway, I'd go with the LED option because of the lower battery consumption, less weight + newer technology.
And there's little to no reports of a bad grainy screen that you hear with some people getting the LED-less lcd option.

Terribly sorry for the missing info, I am looking for a more high end model.
T9300 minimum (and probably max since the T9500 is so expensive)
nvidia 8600, 4 gigs of ram and a 7200rpm hdd.
I will look into the LED screen even though i do fear the delay...

As someone said previously, it already is last year's model and id like to make it last as much long as possible on its specs.
Also it seems with the 30% rebate i can afford a slightly "better" rig for only like 100 or 150 bucks more.
on the other hand, great input and i did add rep for ya
