dell has solved most of the throttling issues with the bios update and 130w adapter. but if sxps has a rgb led, then most likely throttle will still be there becuase rgb uses alot of energy

I'm a little surprised they are saying it comes with the 90W adapter... I received my 1645 (specs in sig) only a couple weeks ago, and it came with the 130W adapter.

Anyways, concerning the rest of your post: I love this laptop... so far. I use it all day for work, then do some gaming in the evenings. It probably just really depends what you expect to use it for. If you are a hardcore gamer, then I would definitely have concerns about the GPU throttling. As it is, I play Dawn of War II, Team Fortress II, and some other games for hours at a time with no problems at all. I'm very impressed by the performance of this laptop and would definitely recommend it to others.

Take this all with a grain of salt though (as you should any advice from a single person, because one data point is not enough), and see what other people say.

1645 has the i7 cpu where the others have other cpu options and NOT the i7... hope that helps.

XPS 16 is a general name for this series of laptops. So depending on what you want, you'd choose the 1645 or 1647 etc... and they have different configurations.

mine does not throttle anymore... dell replaced the 90w with the 130w and now everything works fine... even when I'm playing games like age of conan or arkham asylum
