I'm going to get someone to pick up a laptop for me in the US on a trip from Europe but this means that I'm limited to whatever is in stores with no scope for customisation.

Would anyone be able to answer the following questions about the Studio XPS laptops that Bestbuy sell?

-Screen - as far as I can tell they sell the basic model so I'm assuming this is a CCFL rather than an LED on the 13 and the 16? Anyone have this screen? Is it really that much worse than the WLED version?

-Keyboard - The website says nothing about a backlight. I thought this was standard on the Studio XPS. Do the Bestbuy machines have backlit keyboards?

Are there any other material differences I should be aware of or any other reasons why the Bestbuy machines wouldn't be as good as a Studio XPS bought direct from Dell?

The alternative choice is the HP dv3510nr which is a bit slower and uses DDR2 but has a nice thin LED screen and backlit keyboard.

Any advice would be much appreciated as I can't go an see these machines before I make up my mind!

I bought mine from best buy and unless they changed it over the past 3 weeks it's exactly like one you'd get from dell.

-the screen is the WLED 720p

    - backlit keyboard

    - bluetooth. there is nothing left out

The Studio XPS line does not offer CCFL backlit displays -- they are all LED.

Wrong. The Studio XPS 13 from bestbuy has the CCFL screen. The 16 has the WLED screen.

I'm fairly sure all models have the backlit keyboard.

Thanks for clarifying the screen situation.

Would CCFL be a deal breaker for anyone? Would it be a reason to get the lower specced HP that has an LED screen?

Are the CCFLs on the Studios still decent enough?

    Thanks for helping with this.
