    I just bought a new M1530 and its working pretty good. The only problem I have is that I don't quite like Windows Vista and I have been trying to install XP Professional and some problem shave come up when I'm running the disk. I have read that the M1350 has soem problems with that since there are no XP Drivers available. Can someone please help me with this problem? I believe there has to be a way to be able to uninstall Vista and install XP in he M1350. If anybody knows about this please help me out with anything you can. Thanks.

    the problem is that windows XP will not see your hard disk when AHCI is enabled in your bios. you need to do one of 2 things;

    1) disable AHCI in the bios (press f2 repeatedly at startup to get to bios), and XP will install and work just fine.

    if you do this, you will have to install AHCI later, if you want it... it is not necessary to run XP, but may increase performance a bit.

    i have an example of how to install AHCI after installing XP on my computer here;

    it may be a bit different on a 1530, not sure, haven't done it...

    2) slipstream the SATA driver (used for AHCI). there are guides here on this...

    here is one;

    good luck!

    oh, and a guy named ubnyan has installed XP on his 1530, you could message him about it, find his post in this thread, post number 16;

    I have installed Xp Pro SP2 on my XPS 1530 just today, and it works just fine.

    I am working on a configuration problem with the video drivers - not getting optimal performance right now - but all the drivers are out there, and if you're patient and don't mind a bit of tinkering, it most certainly can be done. I'm preparing this note under XP on this very machine right now!

    I will be happy to share my experiences if that will help.
