    Hi,

I have bought a Dell XPS M1330 a few months ago and the only option that was available was the Vista Ultimate 32 bit.

My Intel processor is the Core Duo 2 T7500 which supports 64bit OS. But Intel specifies that the BIOS from the manufacturer must also support 64bit for it to work.

My Dell BIOS (A12) does not specify anywhere if it does support 64bit or not.

    Anybody knows??

    Thanks alot,

    Morindin

I had read that post but this reads more like a hack than just a clean install.

I am advanced and therefore I can probably get it setup.

My question was more out of the box, if I install Windows Vista 64bit by buying a retail CD, can it work or do I have to go thru all these steps?

I figure we have to go thru the hack but I am not sure and could not read anywhere for certain.

    Thanks again.

that post isnt hacking, its more like a guided installation...

just install x64 with AHCI driver, then get x64 drivers from drivers.dell.com and fingerprint reader utility if needed

Well I just called Dell and they will send you a 64bit DVD for free...

I had to tell them to lookup the following document though.

Dell service document (DSN policy document ID 158098) that states a customer can request the 64-bit version of Vista if their system was originally ordered with the 32-bit version.

Can't wait to install it now :)
