Since I'm not exactly what you'd call a technical guru when it comes to hardware, I am not quite as good as many of you with keeping my drivers up to date on my new XPS 1640. In fact, I'm almost afraid to try to keep my drivers up to date because most of the time I'm not even sure what the driver is for when I go down the list of Dell's recommended driver updates. I realize it gives a brief description, but I usually still have a hard time figuring it out. Also, once I've downloaded the driver, I always have this fear that I'm going to mess something up.

So I found this driver update utility:

    http://www.windowsdriverhelp.com/landing/driver/wdh/driver.php?sc=g&cp=s&key=driver%20agent&kw=17939

My question is...have any of you ever used something like this (or this one specifically)? Is it a good idea to use it?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, be careful with these "automatic driver update utilities". 90% of them are scams.

The technical know-how you need to distinguish the scams from real useful utilities is probably higher than the know-how you need to update your drivers properly. The latter option is cheaper too.

OK...I guess that answers my question then. Thanks to both of you! I'll be sure to add to your reputations.

    Thanks again.
