I ordered an Xps 15 brand new last week and it got here today. The little inserts it came with said to update bios..etc, but if it was just made this week it should be up to date right? I just remember reading somewhere on here that messing with bios is risky if you don't know what you are doing, and I really don't want to mess up my new computer. Any help? Thanks!

Any other things I should do with it immediately? I've already set up Windows and now it's in the process of making the recovery disk. (I'm online on my old computer at the moment)

the latest bios is the a09 version you can see what version bios you have as soon as you turn on your laptop it will display it at ur dell boot logo,

but if you only got it newer this week you may even have a newer version again of the bios that simply hasnt been placed on to the download servers yet.

The only other update i could suggest you to do is update your graphics card drivers if you intend to game on it as these updates make a nice difference to your gaming.

If you aren't having any issues (bugs or performance) with your current BIOS, there's really no need to update, unless there's some specific fix or feature that you want from a later BIOS. I would say the same applies to any drivers.

I just got mine a couple days ago as well, and it has the newest BIOS - A09. I'm guessing it's likely yours does also.

Daryl - Are you using the drivers from Dell's support website or from Nvidia's?

hi kgbeezr1 im getting my drivers from here Drivers - GeForce i personally use the beta drivers they provide on that site as they bring more performance enhancements but some people have reported problems with the new beta drivers so ur probaly best going with the 285.58 stable drivers they have on that site
