Does anyone know whether or not the M1330 motherboard with the integrated Intel video can be used to replace the motherboard with the nVidia GPU? Do all the connectors for the LCD/Keyboard/etc match up properly? I understand the HDMI port would not work, but do the other ports line up properly?

I'm in the process of having my current board replaced through Dell (and it's been a serious pain in the butt dealing with them) but since I'm overseas I don't want to have to send the laptop back to the states every time the motherboard dies. I figured the Intel GPU board would be a little more reliable. Thanks....

The 8400M is integrated onto the motherboard. It isn't discrete as many people believe it to be. The card itself is soldered on and you cannot just add it to your motherboard.

Yes, I completely understand that. I want to pull the board with the nVidia GPU out and replace it with a motherboard with the Intel graphics chip. The question still stands: will the connectors/ports/etc line up properly?

I have no need for the nVidia GPU, and am looking to both gain battery life AND reliability with the Intel X3100 GPU instead. Had I known that the nVidia GPU was going to cause me issues I would have gone with the Intel one instead.

Yes, you should be able to swap them. All the ports and connectors should be the same.

I'd be a bit surprised if Dell agree to do this but I think it is the minimum they should be offering. These GPU failures are a huge problem and must be savaging their reputation despite the generally good and prompt service/support.

I personally would buy a Dell again but I think my wife intends to exercise a veto based on our two graphics failures.

Just one correction, the HDMI port should still work. X3100 supports HD video output and audio.
