I recently had my screen replaced by dell dispatch for my studio XPS 1340. My hinges were loose, instead of replacing just the hinges dell dispatch had replaced the whole screen. My question is can you tell a difference between CCFL and LED. My specs is LED I just want to make sure the technician, replace with the right screen. Is LED thinner than CCFL if so what is the technical spec of thickness between the two. Is there a way to check if you have a 1.3 or 2.0 webcam. Please chime in.
Thanks,
Jerry

Go to your control panel -> Device Manager -> Monitors -> right click on properties -> go to Details tab -> select Hardware IDs from the drop down menu to find your monitor ID and google search it.

bottom of page, it is LED LGD0145. I feel better. What is the hardware ID for CCFL -
That's weird, in that link they are also saying that the SEC5441 is NOT a LED.
While in other threads they say the SEC5441 is an LED. This is confusing, someone should just come out with an official list of monitor IDs. -
The led is supposedly lighter than CCFL.

>7 steps of brightness adjustment=LED...easiest way IMHO of testing if your display is LED you will have 15 individual levels of brightness.
If you only have the 7 levels then your display is old-school CCFL! -

Well all that says is that if its 7 levels, it's DEFINITELY CCFL, but that if its 15 levels, it doesn't say it has to be LED.

I might be wrong, but doesn't CCFL have a more obvious light leakage coming from the bottom of the screen than LED?

my SEC5441 is LED (i have taken apart the machine and lid, definitely led components inside)
the LGD0145 is also LED (i have this screen on my other 1340)
I personally prefer the cooler color temp of the SEC5441 to the warmer color temp of the LGD0145
