    Hey

I had a couple questions B4 my XPS M1530 arrives on monday.

    1. When watching movies and hooking the laptop up to a TV can the lid of the laptop be shut and still kepp running or does it shut down when this happens?

    2. I bought the 9cell battery, can you get better, and higher cell.

Also any tips for someone who has never even touched a laptop before would be great, anything usefull and easy.

I have some computer knowledge on my desk top I own, but nothing to do with a laptop.

    Thanks again guys

    1. Yes, you can close the lid when you're connected to a TV or monitor
    2. 9 cell is currently the largest battery size
Other tips: Dells are infamous for bloatware, so make sure you get rid of all the bloatware - The best way is to do a clean install (uninstalling them from your control panel will work too, but isn't as effective). If you want get a better gaming performance, look for your gpu drivers at laptopvideo2go.com. The standard stock drivers usually don't allow your gpu to perform at its best.

The m1530 doesn't have that much bloatwares. You have to adjust the power setting not to hibernate, sleep, or turn off when the lid closes.

you COULD watch tv/films/whatever with the lid down, but ALWAYS put it into Power Saver mode first.

If you leave it in high performance, everything gets hot after a while and the screen gets burnt.

I found that out the hard way :(

I assume that adjusting the power setting will be quite easy then.

    Oh

As well I forgot, Im thinking that I would like 3gb of memory or 4 if I can get it cheap enough.

What memory do I need (UK) and what is the best and cheapest.

    You know what I mean.

    Thanks.

I've got the 4gb Corsair kit sat next to me in a sealed box.
Purchased from Dabs as I wanted to use Paypal.

As soon as I get my M1530 on monday (and the screen is ok) it's going in :). The 2gb currently in my M1530 will be going to a new home inside the missus' Acer laptop.
