Can anyone who recently purchased an XPS 13/16 confirm whether or not they received the fast access cd and microfiber sleeve? I bought an XPS 16 and was told bya tech that fast access is not available as a disc and that the sleeves are no longer being shipped with the systems. Thanks!

01/28/2010 02:09:09PMAgent (Adi akhil_199538): "Well we don't have the disc for the fast access and we made it easy for our customers to download from the site."
01/28/2010 02:09:38PMAgent (Adi akhil_199538): "And regarding the Microfiber Dell Sleeve, Dell use to be ship the Sleeve long back and it is been stopped."

I definitely didn't get a sleeve with it (I got my laptop a month ago). Do you have a picture, I'm curious to see it.

I'll have to check on the CD part.

Is it the third picture from the left, top row?

Yes, I got one of those in white (my laptop is white). It's very thin though, it's more like a dust cover. It offers no protection whatsoever. I thought you were talking about something more substantial.

Is it possible they just didn't know what you were talking about?

I checked my original order, and it wasn't listed there either. So if someone answering the phone at Dell just looks at the description of the typical package, they won't find it.

Maybe you should send them the picture from the link?

Ive sent them that exact link and here are the responses I got from 3 different people.

    1.) We stopped shipping them
2.) We only ship them with brand new systems (mines a refurb from the outlet)
3.) We checked your order status and its not listed on there, therefore we cant send you one.

And I was pretty sure it would not be listed in the invoice, thanks for clearing that up for me Tony_Pony. I'll keep trying, I know its a useless piece of cloth but hey, ill take what i can get.

Good for you for persevering. It's a really flimsy sleeve though :)

My laptop was brand new, so my guess is whoever returned your system forgot to include the sleeve, hence they don't have it.

It never hurts to ask though :)

I got my 1645 about a month ago.

I did get the sleeve. While it won't do much to protect the laptop from impact, I like to use it when I take the laptop out of the house because it does offer protection from scratches when the case of the laptop rubs against something else, and it can also help with minimizing the finger prints that the black units so easily collect.

With regard to the Fast Access CD, I think that the information you got about it being available only for web download was correct. I wanted to ininstall it from my computer, but I figured that I'd like to know that, if I ever wanted to use it, I'd be able to re-install it. I looked (several times) through everything that came with the computer, and, when I did not find it on the disks that came with the computer, I did check on Dell's site and found it there. I doubt that I'll ever want to use it, but, just to be sure I could if I wanted to, I put the download on a disk that I could keep in a safe place.

The sleeve really is useless... its not even really microfiber so i would warn against using it to clean your screen as it could scratch it.
