I had the 1730 a couple of years ago with the 8700sli but after going through a couple of them sent it back. Also couldnt justify the high price tag at the time.

So now the prices on the 1730 in the outlet have gotten very attractive so I bought another one. This one has the 9800M GTX SLI (J951N) and the T9300 CPU. My concern is the failing GPUs and heat problem. My question is would I be better leaving the SLI off if Im not gaming? Would this keep the temps lower?

I tried it with the SLI off and it doesnt seems to make a difference. Temps stay in the 60s and 70s at idle. I havent tried gaming yet.

better get a nice notebook cooler, clean the vents time to time and change the thermal paste when you feel you need to change. That will keep you notebook running with no problems.
