Newbie here. So if I’m asking questions that have been discussed 1000 times before, don’t start hammering me.

I have an XPS M1530 with the following config
    X9000 CPU
    4GB DDR2 RAM
256 GM NVidia GeForce 8600M GT
200 GB 7200 RPM 16 MB cache hard drive
15.4 Inch WSXGA display with 2.0 MP camera
    8X DVD/RW
    Intel Wireless N Mini card
Running on Windows Vista Ultimate 32 Bit SP1

Can you please post a link to the latest and greatest driver/update to get the most out of the GeForce 8600M GT? Can this be overclocked?

I know the X9000 CPU can be overclocked. Can this be done in the XPS M1530? If this has been discussed before, can you please post the link to the threads?

I have Speedfan measuring the temperatures and they tend to get into the 70’s (degrees Celsius) from time to time. What can be done to cool the mainboard better?

What else do you recommend to optimize the M1530?

    Thanks.

I assume x9000 was installed after purchase??
I ask cause I havn't seen any 1530's for sale with it.
    As regards drivers laptopvideo2go.
As regards the x9000 unless you have an option in your bios, or crystalcpuid wil also let you change multiplier.

Yes, I installed the X9000 after the purchase and I love it although it does get hot on full throttle and draws a good amount of voltage.

According to the Vista Memory Index, the factory 4 GB RAM is holding me back at a score of 5.0.

Will installing a faster RAM solve the problem? What is the fastest RAM out there?

    Thanks.

Vista index is irrelevant. Anybody that knows anything about computers agrees. So forget bout your score, its meaningless.

As regards the ram, you can put whatever speed you want in, but it makes no difference, it will only run at 667mhz max, its a chipset limitation so nothing can be done about it unless you want to go down the road of raising your fsb.
