Isnt it too big compared to the studio xps 13?

I wanna buy a laptop for school & casual gaming(wow/d3/whatever) and i saw this guy locally selling his STUDIO XPS 16 brand new ..he says hell leave it to me for 950$ and he claims its

    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo P8600 (2,4GHz, 3 Mo Cache L2, 1066MHz bus frontal)
    4 gb ram
    1 gig graphic card
    320 HD
    No blu-ray just DVD/CD RW

i figure this is too good to be true but we would deal locally which...makes me think it might be real. my question is ive always been lookin for a 13-14 incher max cuz i figure 16 is too big, is it really?

    Thats it

Well it's a good deal, I'd say. As for the size, I came from a 13" MacBook unibody which was slim and light. Now w/ the 16" SXPS, yeah I think it's big. Noticeably bigger. It's heavier and using it on my lap is something I prefer not to do anymore lol. Battery life sucks on it as well. So what are you wanting to use it for? If you want portability and the things that go w/ that then.. yeah it's kind of a pain in the booty, but I use mine almost like a desktop - gaming and just sitting at a desk/table to use it.

I took my MB w/ me wherever I traveled but I may not with this thing (also b/c I feel it's more fragile) haha it's thin for the most part but it's a big difference from what I had before.. anyway, w/ all those knocks it's a great machine, but I think it's more on the side of near desktop replacement than portable laptop. Hope that helps. Just remember this is my opinion =)

If this is for school (more than for games and such), and you will be carrying this thing around campus a lot, I'd say that you could find the 16" a bit too big and heavy for comfort. The 13" model may suit you better. The 16" really is more of a desktop replacement unit.

The SXPS 16 is NOT to big. If you take care of it you will not have much wear and tear. Th main thing is to get something to go in between the keyboard and screen, it is really easy for the keys to scratch the screen.

I bought this last week and it arrived on Tuesday:
    http://www.shaggymac.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=3
I had to get a custom size one:
    1 x 17"-19" Custom Shop Laptop Screen Protector (SPCustom17) = $19.95
    Color Panther
    Width 15 in
    Depth 8 3/4 in

Fits beautifully, made of the same material as the sleeve our laptops come in.

My opinion on the size of the laptop: if you go to school from 8am to 5pm 5 days a week and do a lot of switching between class rooms, this laptop might be too big/heavy. In my program I spent periods of a few hours at a time in my Lab so having a slightly bigger laptop wouldn't be such a big deal, but if I had to pack it up every hour and move each time, I might start to regret the laptop size.

I currently only take 2 night courses a week so the slightly bigger size doesn't bother me as I am only lugging it and that one class's textbooks at any given time.
