Whenever I've got an application or window maximized the grey quickset OSD is hidden behind it so I can never tell what I've got it set to. This is the same for volume and display brightness. If I don't have any windows maximised I can see it fine. This looks like the OSD gets composited behind any maximised windows.
The function keys do work in changing volume/brightness, I just can't see the OSD.
I'm using the latest quickset drivers (11.0.22, A04) from the dell site, I thought I might try rolling back but it won't install the app from my driver disk or any older drivers from the dell site - system not the specification or some crap.
Anyone else experience this?
EDIT* This is only a problem when the windows taskbar is set to autohide. Possible fix to come from Dell.

Do you mean when apps/windows are full screened? Yes I get this too.. I remember it wasn't like this before. Dunno if it is quickset or the display drivers...
-
I've found that the OSD is only hidden when the top window is maximised. If there is another smaller window on top of the full screen window then it works.
This is another one of those small but really annoying problems that should be an easy fix if Dell actually gave it the time of day. -
This problem has now been confirmed and logged by Dell and I've been told to expect a phonecall on Monday after it's been to labs for testing this weekend.
I've heard a lot of bad things about Dell customer support but both times I have now been in contact with them they've been pretty good. Pot luck on which advisor you get I suppose... -
I've also had good experiences with Dell Support. -

This need to be fixed and also when i use my Dell Instant Launch Programme touch button it isn't the active programme so i have to click on it to use it, not much of a problem but annoying. Is there a fix to that?

After some testing it seems that this problem becomes apparent when the Windows taskbar is set to Auto-hide. When the taskbar doesn't hide the quickset OSD appears just fine.
Can anyone else just do a quick check on this to if it is happening to everyone? I'm going to assume that most people don't use Autohide as I think this probably would have been flagged before but I like to keep my screen completely clear of clutter as much as possible.
This has been flagged as an issue with the Dell engineers but I can't see it being a top priority for a fix. -
I can test for you. How do you want me to launch Quickset?
-
To do a test, set the windows task bar to autohide, open up any folder or application and maximise it. Now use the function keys to change volume or brightness and if it's anything like mine then you will not be able to see the on-screen display.
Thanks -
Yep, I can confim that behaviour on my L502X.

You're welcome.
Quickset (Function keys) behind a maximised window
