yea, although many ppl are reporting that the RGB is one of the best displays on a notebook ever that can even rival some desktop displays.

I have the 720p and tried to change my order afterwards. Due to the way I paid for my laptop I wasn't able to change it but I can tell you this, my screen is still the best looking screen I've ever seen on a laptop. Now I'm sure the RGB screen is better, but I'm completely content with the screen with the exception that I wish the icons and text were a little smaller. BluRays look incredible on it as well, much better then even my LG HDTV.

It's a nice screen and I love the resolution. But, the colors are WAY over saturated. By this I mean that the color red looks pinkish. I've been able to correct them via ATI CCC to a somewhat acceptable compromise though. But if that bothers you, I'd not get the RGBLED.

So your saying the RGBLED screen is bad? More opinions on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

The image quality is great, but the color accuracy is poor. Even after tweaking you have to live with a compromise. You either have super pink reds or have to dull the other colors which makes them look faded out (not bright) in order to suppress the horrid reds.

The colors are really saturated and as others have mentioned, the reds are really bright.. but for me, after using the RGBLED, its hard to go back to a regular LCD because everything looks dull and washed out (not sure about WLED since I've never really used one)

The RGBLED screen is the only thing on the 1640 that you won't find on any other laptop (excluding the very expensive Sony VAIO AW). So you might as well go for it.

The 1080p was a must have for me. Its great, but, take awhile to get used to, esp. if you are coming from an WLED screen (which may be cooler and have more contrast). Dell doesnt offer a mid-resolution (eg. 1600x900), so if you need screen resolution, then you dont have much choice.

The VAIO AW has an optional WLED 1080p 18.4 inch screen that is very good. But, that will run you much more monies.

The screen is actually annoying. It has the display capacity, but the color translations are off. As mentioned before, Red & Green are the major problems.
Red looks glossed over with pink, so if you are looking at a picture of the american flag, it is pink-red, white and blue.

Green is also an issue, it looks like a mix of greenblue. Just off!

You can try and tweak settings, but it effects other colors (washes them out).

Sad when you consider the premium you pay for this laptop.

I bought the 720p and returned it. I was not impressed. If you liked the old 1280x800 resolution monitors, then you'll be fine. Lower quality, grainy, obvious pixelation.

I'm soooo glad I returned it for the 1080p, it is a massive difference.

    Don't skimp on this!

If you actually took a few minutes out of your busy day and went into the ATI properties and adjusted the saturation levels & other settings, you'd know that these "problems" aren't problems!

Dell can't adjust every monitor to everyone's liking, so everything comes defaulted, YOU have to make it yours.
