I noticed its not an option anymore through Dell. Maybe I'm not just looking hard enough, did they get rid of it. The best option now is Edge-to-Edge FHD Widescreen 15.6 inch WLED LCD (1920x1080) W/2.0 MP?

I noticed if you go to the $1299 package its NOT there but in the $1199 package it is but costs a lot. Anyone know how much of a difference is there between the Edge-to-Edge FHD Widescreen 15.6 inch WLED LCD and RGBLED other than the RGBLED is 16". Why they did that, who knows?

Why don't you just wait until Windows 7 is released that way you'll get it pre-installed :D

Oh and can anyone tell the difference between the RGBLED screen compared to the WLED screen? Or is there one?

Side by side you definitly see the difference between the RGBLED and a conventional cold cathode screen. My friend has a vaio laptop with a reasonably good screen and we were both using them next to each other, his colours looked washed out and dull in comparison.

I don't know how it compares to the WLED screen though

the RGB is a $175 upgrade over the WLED. I don't know what the differencebetween them is, but i definitely know that the RGB i got is very nice, worth every penny imo

RGB = (red, green & blue) and in a certain mix between this 3 diodes you get the white colour.

wled = (white LED) using 1 chip instead of RGB 3 chips.

the main difference is that RGB hav much wider colour range...........(RGB is also named as "full-colour-diodes)

    no its not to small.
i use default 96 DPI and when ever i feel for it i use " Ctrl + scroll" to enlarge text inside Firefox.

    works splendid !!!!

the RGB 1080p screen is the best screen on the market right now, (and will probably be quite a time).

was looking on a lot of photos today and the Colour-Depth blew me away like nothing :)

I asked one seller at eBay today if his laptop has a RGBLED 16" screen or WLED one. He seems to be not very familiar with the issue, still, his answer was the following:

"According to the Dell website when I type in the Service Tag, this is the following information provided:

8G51N Assembly, Liquid Crystal Display, 16, Full High Definition, Low Cost, 1640

The only option for a full 16 inch screen is the RGBLED screen that is a $250 upgrade. Based on this info it must be a RGBLED screen because only the RGBLED Full HD screen is 16" not 15.6"

So what do you think - is it RGBLED or "low-cost" WLED one? Thanks!

    well, definitely not like mine
"J934G Assembly, Liquid Crystal Display, 16, Full High Definition, RED/GREEN/BLUE..., Black"

But I doubt if there's any other option for 16' in SXPS16

About the quality of the RGBLED 16" I found this review on Notebookcheck.

Shortly, it states that this screen is the state-of-art in notebook screens. It represent all colors correctly and it's perfect until you have some nasty light source behind you.

This great screen it's what make undecided between this notebook and the much more graphically performancing Clevo ones...

    @apollinaris
I saw on DELL website SXPS 16's sheet this:

Display LCD edge-to-edge lucido da 15.6" WLED HD (720p)
Display LCD edge-to-edge lucido da 15.6" WLED Full HD (1080p)
Display LCD edge-to-edge lucido da 16" WLED HD (720p)
Display LCD edge-to-edge lucido da 16" RGB-LED Full HD (1080p)

this is from this Italian webpage, but it's rather well comprensible...only "lucido" means "glossy" ;)

you mean, there are hardly other options for 16", than RGBLED FHD? What about then the post of Shavenrat? It seems that 16" screen can be both in RGB and "simple" WLED configuration. I'm not sure just because of that "low cost" word in technical specification the seller gave me ( 8G51N Assembly, Liquid Crystal Display, 16, Full High Definition, Low Cost, 1640).

Drawtwister, when did you place your order? Another thing, if you are from a different country other than the US your display's part number could be different.

I have recently ordered an sxps16 that was shipped and noticed (by checking on the tracking number you are able to see the tag number) that my system is also coming with the display you mentioned (8G51N Assembly, Liquid Crystal Display, 16, Full High Definition, Low Cost, 1640) and I ordered the 16'' LED-RGB display.

They maybe changed the part number, if not I will have to send the computer back since it's a $175 option.

    I placed order on June-09 from Dell(US).
May be you're right (even now they give another option for 16'), Dell changed part number. But for what? I dunno.
