I delayed my purchase for 1 day and RGBLED is gone on the UK site for the XPS 16. same as the US as well!

Is this a shortage problem ?

They pulled Blu-Ray as well from the uK site :( a while ago.

Regarding WLED screens are they covered in hard plastic as well?

    cheers

Why don't you just place your order via telephone? This way you could even ask for some rebate.
Mostly they can configure you some items the website does not contain. Give it a try...

If you would have searched the forums, you would have seen that they take out some items from time to time and put them back later.

They dont seem to be taking orders for the RGBLED.

I wonder if i should just wait till later on?.

Is there a big difference between the two screens?.
I will be using the laptop for work, and most internet and some occasional watching of avi files when i am stuck in a hotel. I wont be doing any gaming whatsoever.

I have seen a few 2nd hand XPS 16 with core2 duo at computerfairs/ebay and was wondering it the XPS is safe enough laptop that things dont generally go wrong. Prices are around £500

Dell is cheap like that, maybe they actually are out of stock. Sometimes they even have some deals that come with it and some without, on the site. Since there is like 9 different links to customize a Dell XPS. Whats funny is that they even offer blue ray slot drive, some have BD/DVD/CD rom/burner, some have DVD/CD read and write with BD read only. Dell is just weird.

I currently checked the CA/US site and all the RGB screen options have been removed.

From what I have read, the RGBLED is disco. and that is due to it drawing to much power and was a part of the issue with the throttling. Again this is what I have read and Dell tech has said to me the rgbled is discontinued as well as I was after one (before I knew of the throttling connection) for a system replacment.

Well thats dumb, why would they discontinue the RGB screen when its the main feature of the Dell XPS 16, and isn't it their job to fix that, rather than just say "hmm this doesnt work, lets throw it out".

I currently have a Sony with x black screen which i think is very good. How does it compare to the RGBLED and WLED?

Basically WLED has to be better than x black for me to by theXPS and not feel like I am downgrading screen quality
