I read that if the mobo is replaced while under warranty the warranty won't be extended; so it only applies to mobos that melt after the warranty has run out or is this Dells way of trying to get you to buy an extended warranty? Just want to be clear on that before i buy one. I'm still on the fence about these laptops but having the option of getting a replacement should one fail outside it's warranty would definitely help! Cheers.

Dell will cover your lappy's Mobo the entire time it's under the Warranty period that you have.
When your warranty period is up (ie. 12/24/36 months whatever warranty coverage you had at that time),...No Warranty coverage remains "in force".
If you choose to buy the Extended Warranty Coverage, then the coverage would remain "in force" on your lappy.
Usually before your lappy's warranty is near expiration, you may receive a letter/phone call/email with some deal trying to "sway" you to buy the extended coverage on your lappy. The last one I received on my Mini 9 Netbook offered me a good deal on the coverage + a $75 Gift Card if purchased.
Now, it would cover up to one year outside of your warranty on certain Models that are covered under the Nvidia problems such as those on the XPS 1330/1530: NVIDIA GPU Update: Limited Warranty Enhancement Details
And, you can always add the Extended Coverage, check pricing yourself online at dell.com: LINK

Thanks Cin. That link was what i was after. So it's officially extended to cover that specific issue for another 12 months which is great. Thanks for your reply.
