This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     Re-install windows on new laptop?

    Just curious if it makes a difference in speed if I re-install windows to get rid of all the trial ware and crap dell installs. Also, I'm getting 2 hard drives...will one of them be configured for windows / programs while the other is for personal storage? Thanks

    From the new Dells I have purchased, none had any bloatware/software I didn't need already. I would at least create an account first and make recovery media and use it for awhile to see if you like it.

    I prefer to start with a clean install of windows. IMO it's ultimately better to start with only the OS and then add what you need. That way you only have installed/running what you need/want vs. what Dell or someone thinks you need or wants to sell you on. But everyone has their preferences.

    I also work with Dells at work and we always place our own image on the machines we buy, never the default.
