Recently got the XPS 15, and it plays games just fine at a solid 60FPS. The thing is, whenever I'm gaming, the fans get ridiculously loud to the point where I have to wear earphones just to block out some of the sound. I can feel the air coming out of the computer so there seems to be no physical problems, but the sound is just so ridiculously loud that it's distracting. Is this supposed to be normal?

Yes it is a laptop with a good GPU & CPU in a bloody slim case, repasting the heatsink will help a little, but only a little. Look at the thread about undervolting if you want to try and lose a little more heat.

I see. I'll try it out. This is the first time I've heard of undervolting. Is this a good guide on it?

Yeah I saw that thread earlier, but there doesn't seem to be a step-by-step guide on it, just results.
However, looking through, should I undervolt? The fan complaints I have come only when I'm gaming with the XPS, but apparently undervolting and gaming don't go hand in hand. -
Not always, it depends on the chip.

Every chip is different. -
1. Should I?
2. If I do, can you hold my hands?GoNz0 likes this. -
In all fairness "it depends on the chip" is ambiguous between "it depends on the type of chip" and "it depends on the individual/single chip".

Then page 6, and probably quite a few more mentions of the i7 if you keep reading! -
Really loud fan?
