Hi! So i received my xps 1530 , and this is my first post on my new laptop! This is my frist laptop so my knowledge is much more limitated than that of Desktops, i had a few questions to ask.

#1: I don't feel comfortable reformating becuase i don't know what drivers i need, so i left vista on and just removed some of the google programs that dell installed. What other "bloatware" programs do you guys reccomend removing?

#2 I ran 3Dmark06 right of the bat. I haven't downloaded any new drivers, so i am running on all stock. My score was 4786, is this good for me? my specs are this. 2.5ghz T9300 , 7,200 rpm 320g HD, 8600m gt 256mb ddr3. Is that score pretty feasble? Keep in mind i had the laptop running on a cooling pad to help it. I know that if i overclock it, i will acheive a higher score, but i am not playing any graphically intensive games as of yet ( i will play warhammer online in the fall), so i see no need Ocing it. Is this score good for stock?

#3 does the stock computer come with the latest direct x , etc? thanks

I would suggest upgrading to at least the latest Dell video driver (look on the M1330 support page, no idea why they do not have it on our page yet). Or at the very least the 174.31's.

4786 is a pretty good score for what I am sure the resolution you ran it at. Which was 1280x800. Which is not the default resolution for 3dmark06.

All the drivers are available on Dell Support for M1530. In my opinion you better do a reformat just because you can make out the most of your laptop. You will feel bored removing all those bloatware and still you wont get the feeling of a brand new laptop :)

    Just my opinion :)

Bloatware are whatever you don't want on your laptop and you will never use them. Basically keep those you want, delete all others.
