I got my XPS M1530 today.
There is one thing that I noticed quickly after unpacking it: there's a noticeable colour difference between the edges and the panel: the panel has a darker red colour than the edges. See this photo:

I'm ofcourse not happy about this colour difference.![]()
Has anyone else noticed this on their red M1530 (or M1330)?

Wow, didn't know Dell is shiipping dual-tone red
I just got a red cover for my 1330 and the color is correct in all pieces, same as the demo unit I saw at BB. The upper & lower pieces are plastic and may be Dell switched manufacturers?

That's a Collector's Edition methinks.

yeah if i were you i would definitely call dell and ask them what the deal is. -
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
The Product Red version does not have 2 tone red colour. That's obviously not right on yours. Call Dell, get another one

Dell can be inconsistant with their colors as I noticed at Best Buy, they had two m1330's on display. One m1330 chrome lip in the front was chrome and the other m1330 was painted red! -
the top and bottom part was painted in china and the middle part was painted in serbia....dont you love capitalism...

Yes, it's a Product RED version. Here in NL the red colour is only available with Product RED.
The colour difference isn't always so obvious as you see in the picture above, it depends on the angle of view and it's much more visible in daylight than in artificial light.
Still I think I'll call Dell about this tomorrow, because it looks like my M1530 had a bad paint job. I had a red M1330 before the M1530 which didn't have this.

Maybe the lid or edge strips were taken from the standard red model instead, possibly they ran out during assembly. There may well be a subtle colour difference between the two reds and this maybe why yours looks the way it does.
