I want to reformat my hard drive to get rid of all the extras that Dell loaded. Can I just reformat the "c" drive, leaving the back up partition and the Media Direct partitions alone? If i do this, will I have to go back and reinstall any of the Media Direct software?
    Appreciate any advice.

Yes you can do that without damaging their functionality. Thats why they were put on separate partitions. ;)

You will still need to use the MediaDirect reinstall disc after installing your OS. The MediaDirect partition will be there, but you will need to add it to the OS partition.
