Everyone who bought a refurbished xps l502x, how was the condition of the system? Did it look like new? What can you tell me?
After a failed attempt to buy a new one from dell I'm thinking of buying a refurbished one ;)

I can't tell you about the XPS15's but you shouldn't have any issues. Most of the refurbished systems are just cancelled production orders anyway, the system hasn't been out very long and best of all there aren't many issues with them so the likely hood of you getting a faulty unit are slim. If they come with warranties, they generally cover everything anyway, even cosmetic issues.

That being said, I got a dud refurb before as a warranty replacement system. They sent a tech to check it out, and turns out someone bent ALL the cpu pins. But this was on a Studio XPS 1647.

Personally, I wouldn't be worried, and you always have that warranty to back you up. :D

The only problem I had was a stuck pixel. I was able to "massage" it away and haven't seen it happen since. As far as aesthetics go, the unit looked brand new. 4 of my last 6 laptops have been from the Outlet and each one has been a good experience.

Ordering a fair amount from Dell Outlet, most Certified Refurbished have no issues. If it has issues, you can send it back for a refund/exchange, Dell makes it very painless. However if you buy a Scratch and Dent, that is a whole other beast. I've seen keyboards bent up, palmrest not flush, broken palmrests, missing screws, the works. Best is if you can find previously ordered new (those are quite rare).

Thanks for the replies, the only thing that i'm really afraid of is getting a screen with one death pixel, I'll cross fingers..

I wouldn't worry about purchasing from the Outlet. I have a very good friend who purchases all his laptops/desktops from there. He had a issue with one of his laptop purchases & he contacted Dell & they handled the return/exchange very well.

Ya Dell handles Outlet RMA's very quickly. I noticed issues with my E6410, not serious serious but I didn't want to own a lemon laptop. Called up Dell, got the RMA set up in about 3-5 minutes, they sent me the return label in my email about 2 hours, and the box came next day. And I hadn't time to RMA it until a week later, Dell came through with 2 follow up calls. I had a pretty good experience with my first Outlet RMA, had a nice customer service rep who kept on apologizing, it was pretty funny.
