Hi, I placed an Studio XPS 16 order online at Sept 08. I have received my laptop and now I tried to register for the Win 7 but it still says my service tag is not available in database. Anyone having the same problem ?![]()

i bought mine on sept 2nd and mine still isnt in the database. i called dell and all they said was to wait till it officially comes out
-
Okay, I guess there's no need for me to call them. Let's just wait for it then, But I thought we should have registered for it.
-
Same happened to me.
Just email Dell support and explain the situation, they magically unlocked my service tag on the win7 registration web site and was able to register. -
can you give me the email address for Dell Support ?
-
When did you receive the laptop ?
-
17 Sept. Does that matter ? I thought it's the date of purchase.
-
Yes it does cause it takes 4 weeks for you to show up eligible for the Windows 7 upgrade

Here is a link at the Dell Site you may want to review:

Hope that helps!

I signed up for my upgrade the day I got my computer...
-
Yes, I emailed them and I got an automated reply (which was totally irrelevant). And then I was magically able to register ! Thanks guys.

Anyone know if this would be the case for UK orders? I have no interest in paying an extra penny for it but would take the freebie.
-
Yea I'm interested to know how much is the Tax, shipping and handling charges ? Is it free in US ?
-
I'm told by Dell it'll cost us in the UK, £20.00 on top of the Free, but still can't register.
-
Wow ? That a blatant scam. Anyone knows how much in US ?
-
At £20 it seems to be 50/50 handling fee & tax when seeing it available on Amazon for £65.
I don't know what rate of tax you pay in the US but the price of Windows 7 looks considerably higher at Amazon.com showing $200 (£125). -
Did you get a refurb ?
