Hi, I placed an Studio XPS 16 order online at Sept 08. I have received my laptop and now I tried to register for the Win 7 but it still says my service tag is not available in database. Anyone having the same problem ?

Okay, I guess there's no need for me to call them. Let's just wait for it then, But I thought we should have registered for it.

    Same happened to me.
Just email Dell support and explain the situation, they magically unlocked my service tag on the win7 registration web site and was able to register.

Anyone know if this would be the case for UK orders? I have no interest in paying an extra penny for it but would take the freebie.

I'm told by Dell it'll cost us in the UK, £20.00 on top of the Free, but still can't register.

At £20 it seems to be 50/50 handling fee & tax when seeing it available on Amazon for £65.

I don't know what rate of tax you pay in the US but the price of Windows 7 looks considerably higher at Amazon.com showing $200 (£125).
