I'm part of the way through a reinstallation in a bid to negate much of the bloatware which typically accompanies most Dell systems.

With the recent problems concerning the A14 BIOS and the inherent driver issues, I was wondering what would be the best course of action to get the system up and running, and the suggested order with which to install the available drivers - if any.

I understand Dell released a handful of drivers on the 16th to address some of the problems, but not everything necessary? I presume the remaining older drivers are not compatible? (As in the one's they haven't seen fit to update)

I know many of you are pulling your hair out with the recent hiccups, but surely someone with a new XPS 17 (and thus, the A14 BIOS update) have managed to get the system working?

If your installing windows 7, than all you really need to dl for drivers is the Chipset, Lan, GPU, and Wireless drivers.

The intel chipset drivers can be had directly from Intel. and you can get the GPU drivers directly from NVIDIA as well.

I usually install the Audio drivers from Dell as well. as Win 7 may only install basic Audio features.

There are numerous conflicts when attempting to install drivers directly from the manufacturer, particularly with those using the A14 BIOS.

I understand the majority of the drivers supplied on the disk which accompanies the system are not compatible, because of the aforementioned BIOS update?

I recently setup an XPS 15. Compared to many brands such as Sony, there really wasn't a terrible amount of crapware on the XPS. Several other forum members had said the same and, like them, I just uninstalled what I didn't want such as Adobe Reader, Cozi, etc. Doing it that way saves worrying about the driver issues some folks are having when trying to get them all incorporated after a clean install.
