I recall (as I've been watching the i7 1645 thread) mention of something -other- than the EPP program to obtain a further discount on your new dell laptop.

(I think it was buying it under the auspices of a general website... but it rewarded you with a small x% for doing business through them).

However, I've searched... and can't think of the term probably I need to find this information :)

Regardless of whether or not this is still valid, I can't seem to feel 'right' about just buying a laptop from Dell with the basic price they advertise... since the last time I bought from Dell, were the days you ONLY used a massive coupon if you were going to get something, otherwise you were being foolish.

Is this still the case? Please put in any money-savers in here. If we get some good info, I'll request it be sent it to the owner's lounge first post for reference.

I think I've heard that folks using BING can get 5% off or something like that ...

I elected to sign up for a Dell Preferred Account and take advantage of the 1 year no interest on SXPS ... paying it off in a year off course.

I figure if that saves me $20 per month that works out to a $240 savings. 5% of $2000 is still only $100.

You may have a credit card that gives rebates too though ... that may factor in to things ...

Others here I am sure can post better ideas ... but there are a few options ...

Ah yes, Bing... I think that was what was evading my memory.

That doesn't seem to be valid currently, so looks like I'm not missing anything.

    Thanks!
