My warranty runs out on the 28/04/12 so a couple of months yet but wondering wether to and when to renew. I do want that peace of mind so when would it be best to request a extension? wait for them to give me a offer? (i guess they will) or renew it next month some time? i realise it will be £100+ but for warranty advantages im willing to pay that.

    Thanks for any thoughts :)

    Def renew the warranty.

I got a two year warranty but when it ends I'm going to get a couple more years. Just imagine if your graphics card, cpu or motherboard breaks and how expensive that will be . 100 plus dollars is totally worth it because a graphics card replacement might run you 400 dollars.

My XPS M170 has a problem that is either the GPU, CPU or Motherboard and just replacing the 7800-GTX GPU is around 300 dollars for just a used one. I really wish I had kept the warranty on it longer. I might end up buying a GPU and it be the motherboard so it's frustrating. I don't want to make the same mistake with my XPS17.
I'd just call them and renew it.

Yes (from the other XPS warranty thread), given how poor XPS track record for reliability, extending the warranty may not be such a bad idea. For me, warranty adds to the value of the laptop. Nothing like having your laptop bite the dust 2 days out of warranty.

    +1

If you decide to sell later, you will be able to ask a little better price

With laptops I think keeping a warranty on them for as long as your keeping them is just a little piece of mind.

Last, I don't bother on my cheaper laptops (under 700 dollars) as I can usually fix them myself. but with the more expensive models, definitley worth it.

Hi Sam yes I think it's worth it.

I would be interested to know what it cost you as I only took out the 1 year warranty when I bought mine as it was expensive to increase it.

Thanks guys looks like i'll def be extending it then prob next month though due to money restrictions.

Matt, i got a qoute about 3/4 months ago and it was like £120 for an extra year if i remember and about £20/30 more for every year you want. Could of changed since then though. This time next month i'll probably pull the trigger and will let you know if you want, if you pm me or something :)

Hi Sam that sounds pretty reasonable to me.

I'd probably take out another 2 years for approx 150 as I usually change my laptops every 3 years.

I'll Pm you next month then many thanks.
